Player Profile: Tony Meola

Born on February 21, 1969, in Belleville, NJ, he played 11 MLS seasons.

Our goalkeeper in three World Cups, Meola made ๐Ÿ’ฏ caps and ranks third in #USMNT history with 37 wins and 32 clean sheets.

Let’s not forget when he tried out for the New York Jets.

Shortly after the 1994 World Cup, the Jets signed Meola as a placekicker.

He couldn't get hang time on his kickoffs to make him effective.

Meola was cut after the third preseason game, ending an interesting experiment.
