Born in St. Louis, he played nine years professionally in the NASL and MISL. He is also the father of former #USMNT striker Taylor Twellman.

Twellman made his lone cap on Mar 21, 1982, in a 2-1 win over Trinidad & Tobago. He played the full 90 minutes.
