Born on May 12, 1961, in Bechhofen, 🇩🇪, the midfielder played 17 seasons in 🇩🇪 before moving to Colombus Crew in 1997. He retired in 2001.

After becoming a citizen in 1992, he made 81 caps for the USMNT, scoring seven goals. His first was on June 9, 1993, in a 2-0 win over 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿.
