Hawkins grew up in Washingtonville, NY, and attended Hartrick College, netting 30 goals in his career. He helped the Hawks reach the 1980 Final Four.
After graduating, he earned his only cap on Dec 2, 1984, in a 2-2 draw with πͺπ¨. He was the first U.S.-born African-American to represent the USMNT, though he didn't know it at the time. Click here for more. He started the match and was replaced by Dave Cayemitte in the second half.
